American International Choral Festival to be held in Reno-Tahoe May 4-8

The 2nd American International Choral Festival (AICF) will take place in Reno-Tahoe, Nevada, May 4-8, 2011.

Twenty choirs from the United States, South America, and Asia will participate in the competitions in a total of ten categories. In addition to the competition performances, workshops and seminars are held on American and international choral literature, vocal traditions and various performance styles.

The competitions, evaluation rounds, seminars and workshops, will take place in the central Pioneer Center, the main venue of the festival. The Grand Prix Concert and Award Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 7 in Nightingale Concert Hall. Trinity Episcopal Church will host a Friendship Concert the afternoon of May 7.

The jury consists of experts from the United Kingdom, Indonesia and the United States. Bronze, Silver and Golden Diplomas as well as certificates of participation await the participants. A Golden Diploma is the qualification for The Champions Competition of the World Choir Games or the Champions Round of the World Choir Championships.

At the opening at the Pioneer Center on Wednesday at 7:30 pm, the Prime Note Ensemble (Saudi Arabia) and the choir of the Linn-Benton Community College "Blue Light Special" and other singers will welcome the participants and visitors.

INTERKULTUR is the leading organizer and initiator of choir competitions worldwide. INTERKULTUR has ties to 120,000 choirs made up of 4.8 million choral singers around the world. In over twenty years since it was established, more than 5,500 choirs and some 250,000 singers from 100 nations have taken part in the World Choir Games and INTERKULTUR's regional choir competitions. The World Choir Games (WCG), which are dedicated to the founding Olympic ideal, take place every two years on a different continent, as in China, Germany, Austria and in Korea in the past.
