Kathleen Scheide has concertized as an organ and early keyboard soloist throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Russia, and the Far East. She often plays orchestral continuo and chamber music and is keyboardist of the Capital Philharmonic Orchestra of New Jersey. Her degrees are in early music and organ performance from New England Conservatory (with honors) and the University of Southern California (organ department prize).
Dr. Scheide plays a significant four-manual 1893 Roosevelt organ at Peace Lutheran Church, Perkasie, Pennsylvania. She has a particular interest in old American organs and organ preservation. In previous positions she has overseen the restoration of five organs, three historic, including relocation and installation of Organ Clearing House instruments by Giles Beach and George Jardine. She also teaches applied music for Rowan College at Burlington County, New Jersey.
Her compositions are published by Darcey Press, E. C. Schirmer, Lorenz, Piano Press, Wayne Leupold/Time Warner, and World Library. Her recordings are available on Dutch HLM, Palatine, OHS, and Raven labels.
Dr. Scheide is a Past Dean of the San Diego Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, current Sub-Dean of the Philadelphia Chapter, and Vice-Chair of the 2028 National Convention. She also volunteers for sighthound dog rescue.
