Cantori to perform Frank Ferko's Stabat Mater in New York March 3-4

The award-winning choral ensemble Cantori, along with soprano Rebekah Camm, under Mark Shapiro's leadership, will perform Frank Ferko’s Stabat Mater in New York City on March 3 and 4.

Ferko’s setting of the 13th-century Latin Stabat Mater text includes five additional interpolated texts from both ancient and modern sources, and each offers a different description of grief from the loss of a child, someone who has died too soon. Composed for unaccompanied mixed chorus with soprano solo, the work lasts approximately one hour.

Performances are Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m., at Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 E. 88th St., and Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m., at St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church, 522 West End Avenue, both in New York City.
