Nunc Dimittis

Elizabeth Birkshire Brothers Sherman, age 91, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died on July 21. She was a longtime active member of the Central Arkansas AGO chapter and served as Dean from 1970-72. She was organist at various churches in Little Rock, including Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Sherman is survived by two sons, a sister, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Karen McFarlane Retirement

Karen McFarlane has announced her retirement from
twenty-four years of active concert management, effective January 1 of this
coming year. Karen McFarlane Artists, Inc., which in 2001 will mark its 80th
anniversary, was originally founded by Bernard R. LaBerge. In 1962, his
long-time secretary, Lilian Murtagh, took over the agency, which was
transferred to Ms. McFarlane shortly before Mrs. Murtagh's death in 1976.
