Nunc Dimittis

Elizabeth Birkshire Brothers Sherman, age 91, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died on July 21. She was a longtime active member of the Central Arkansas AGO chapter and served as Dean from 1970-72. She was organist at various churches in Little Rock, including Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Sherman is survived by two sons, a sister, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Nunc Dimittis

Edward Hansen, 69,
died on December 13 from complications of multiple myeloma. Hansen received his
undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of Washington. He was
organist at First United Methodist Church in Seattle for five years before his
appointment as Organist and Choirmaster of Plymouth Congregational Church in
1957. He retired from Plymouth in 1991. During his tenure he was involved with
the planning and development of the new church structure and the design and
installation of two new Schlicker organs.

Alan Dann, president of the Estey Organ Museum of Brattleboro, Vermont, died September 7 at the age of 80. Born March 29, 1934, he was educated at Harvard University; Teachers College, Columbia University; and the University of Connecticut. He moved to southern Vermont in 1998. As a church organist, he served at various times the West Dover Congregational Church, St. Mary’s in the Mountains, the Halifax Union Society, and the Marlboro Meeting House.
