Peter Collins, British organbuilder, died October 24, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in 1914, Collins established his own organbuilding firm in 1954, after serving as apprentice with Bishops of London and Rieger of Austria. During his career he was well respected for his neo-classical mechanical-action instruments. Some of his more notable installations include instruments for St. David’s Hall, Cardiff; St.

Harold Chaney, New York City organist, died on November 20, 2014. He was 84. The cause was complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. A native of California, he pursed dual careers as organist and harpsichordist. He earned a DMA from the University of Southern California, and was subsequently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for two years at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg, where he studied under Heinz Wunderlich.

Andrew Pennells died
on October 26, 1999, at the age of 37. He was Managing Director of J.W. Walker
& Sons Ltd, England. Born on January 6, 1962 to parents John and Margaret
Pennells, he won a scholarship in 1973 to Culford School. During vacations he
helped at the Walker factory, showing a great interest in the technical aspects
of the operation. In 1978 at age 16 he began a four-year apprenticeship with
Klais Orgelbau of Bonn, Germany, which included three months study each year at
the School for Organbuilding in Ludwigsburg.
