Welcome Christmas concerts

While the history of the organ in the territories of modern Latvia stretches back to the Middle Ages, Latvian organ music itself (as well as classical Latvian music in general) emerged only in the last quarter of the 19th century. This anomaly arose from the history of the country, which was almost always under foreign rule and, accordingly, influenced by different cultural traditions.

The Biella festival was established to promote the heritage of historic organs in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy.

Chesman appointed

Jeremy Chesman has been appointed University Carillonneur
and Instructor of Music at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He will develop and direct a carillon program and teach music theory.
Additionally, he will serve as staff accompanist.

The carillon, installed in August, is a 48-bell instrument
cast by the Royal Eijsbouts Foundry in Asten, The Netherlands. The bourdon, a
C3, weighs 4850 pounds. The instrument is chromatic for four octaves, excluding
the lowest C-sharp.
